Home About Us

We believe homework makes an important contribution to children's progress at the Academy. It enables children to share their experiences at the Academy with parents and allows them to bring their experiences from outside the Academy, into the classroom. It also helps children to become more confident and independent in their learning, which will help throughout both Academy and Adult life.

Government guidelines suggest that pupils should spend the following amount of time on homework:

Key Stage Year Group Recommended Time Spent on Homework
Key Stage 1 (Infants) Years 1 and 2 Daily 15 minutes maximum
Key Stage 2 (Juniors) Years 3 and 4 Daily 20 minutes maximum
Years 5 and 6 Daily 30 minutes maximum

Homework can be any work done outside the Academy hours, and may include:

  • Reading, Reading Games and Challenges
